Spontaneity of Acting – Beginners

24 Hours of intensive training – starting 2 September

In this course participants will learn how to re-nurture their sense of play, to feel free as an actor. Through acting games and improvised scene exercises, participants will tap into their creative impulses. As inhibitions are dropped the performer within is set free, giving them a sense of self-confidence, trust in themselves and in others, and of being one with the whole ensemble. Each participant will partake in individual, partnered, and group exercises.

This acting course is about reigniting a youthful spirit within ourselves and our acting. What joy does an audience member have watching an actor playing their part from past memories and outdated calculations? The life of the theatre, television drama, and movies lives in the believability that what is being watched is happening.

Spontaneity for an actor is nothing more than connecting to the ‘happenings’ of human life, and this we must constantly nurture else our acting becomes cold and overly analytical.

Actor’s Presence Workshop – Advanced

48 Hours of intensive training – starting 3 September

Along the journey of discovery and expression, an actor may come to a point of feeling lost, their light has dimmed, or their focus is scattered about. In this course the actor regains a sense of being rooted to their center of being, knowing where to place their concentration, and how to be a part of the flow of dramatic moments.

The actor explores the significance and effect of space and atmospheres, how to stay focused from moment-to-moment, and how to connect to the wants and needs of character and self expression.
